Opel Astra Suffers Brutal Rollover Crash At The Nurburgring

A heavy Armco impact at the Wippermann section of the Nordschleife resulted in a huge rollover crash for this Astra

In a Nurburgring crash that’ll make you wince, this Opel Astra driver is seen barrelling into Wippermann at a hugely ambitious speed. Interestingly, the driver doesn’t look to be putting in much in the way of steering input just before the impact - they’re just burying their foot on the brake pedal and hoping for the best.

The car hits the barrier with such force that it rattles the camera, placed some way up the track. A hefty roll follows, with the Opel coming to a rest after rear-ending the Armco on the other side.

The uploader reports that the passenger “was taken to hospital for observation.”

Those ARMCO’s have saved so many people’s lives. Amazing technology to have. The way it just bounces all the metal away like it weighs nothing is mesmerising

I like how as he was crashing it looked like his hazards were on

I lot of new cars automatically turn on the hazards after an impact or even under heavy braking (the sort of braking associated with an emergency stop)
