Can't connect to ECU
Since I had check engine light on my dashboard for a week now, i ordered ODB2 from Amazon, now the thing is it won’t actually connect to my ECU and I don’t know why. I have tried all the protocols, also I have tried other apps too( apps other than torque pro like car doctor). My car is a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo. It is compatible according to http://obd2-elm327.com, also it has an ODB2 port. So whats going wrong? Should I deem that it won’t work with my car and return the adaptor?

You get what you pay for with those adapters I have a £30 adapter which has always worked faultlessly on all cars and then I have my professional coding laptop for more intricate jobs. Get a Carista OBD they’re very good.
I’ll maybe try it with my friends car, and see whether the problem is with my car, or the adapter
I would ask someone from Auto Zone or something, they would know and won’t charge you for advice.
I wish that were true back here. They even charge ₹700 for just scanning the car
These cheap obd adapters are know for being notoriously inconsistent. Just get a replacement from amazon or order a better quality one
Turns out it worked on my friend’s Suzuki swift dZire. No protocol was supporting my 2009 chevy aveo. But swift got connected in like 15 secs.

Make sure none of of the wires are connected to connector are pulled out. There will be ports on the connector that normally dont have wires btw
That are*
Usually even the cheap crap works fine, did you test with the key in turned to full power? (and car not running)
Yes mate, i tried in every mode, even when car is running, i tried that too.. i don’t know if it’s the fault of the ODB port in my car or that my car is just not compatible with the protocols
