Well im no drifter but I believe the rb25 has more torque so it may be a good start point. Making it easier to break the tires loose and get them slinning

To learn you need something underpowered. That’s why not to get a car with more power.

The a31 has an RB20DET stock, still a great engine to use, but It’s not an engine for starters. The RB20DET is a strong engine, but you have to know what you are doing, otherwise you will ruin it, the RB20DET from 1991/1992 has minor oil problems, so you have to get one from 1993 (It’s fixed in 1993). Another thing is, stock there isn’t an Oil temperature gauge, you really need one, the oil has to be warm, before you start to drift.

I see i see. Thanks man. I forgot to mention. Im my country you can get a fully drift built ke70 with 4age 20v , a31 with rb25det converted, and a cressida mark ii 1jz. All 3 can be bought with almost the same price but abit a less for the ke70. And theirs selling all these cars with drift built specs. The more built the have done the higher the price goes. I have consider building one for it is fun. It would cut the cost of money buying a built one. And yeah a lot of a31 owners in my country have issues with the rb20. A lot of a31 sold here already have it converted with the rb25.

I’d go for the KE-70 with 4a-ge. It’s a great engine, if you strip the body all you really need is hydraulic handbrake and you’re good to go. Even Tsuchiya said it’s better to start with an underpowered car, cause if you’ll master it, then you’ll be able to drift any car.

KE70 Corolla with 20v 4AGE for sure man !, it’s a high revving engine and they can be super fun, it’ll be hard but well worth it in the end, if you can make a Corolla sing you can drive anything !

Nissan laurel c32/c33 seems as pretty good option for drifting because of its long body, reliable straight six turbo engine, rwd manual and you can also get it pretty cheap. It also has that awesome japanese underground jdm drift look!
