3D Printed Switch Housing for Jeep

I’m a high school senior, and designed this from scratch during my first semester engineering class. The goal was to better improve the functionality of my 2002 Jeep TJ’s dashboard by redesigning the lower switch housing entirely. Firstly, I needed more switches to control an expanding number of aftermarket accessories (lights, lockers, winch, air compressor), especially since the stock panel only provided three housings to work with. Secondly, I wanted to be able to monitor the current draw resulting from using these accessories, and lastly, I wanted it too look clean, like it came from Mopar. I worked with Autodesk Inventor for most of the design, and utilized a Makerbot Replicator 5th gen to prototype (The final 3D print took over 40 hours to complete). In the end the switch panel fits perfectly using the factory mounts and provides on all my prerequisites. I plan on creating a fifth design iteration with the goal of cutting down the material used and in effect the print time. Feel free to let me know what y’all think of it! I plan on posting more pictures as I continue.

Nice one . Any picture of the part fitted?
Also I’d be interested what is your feedback on the makerbot replicator? Any issue using it?

I’m planning on posting some later. The Makerbot made it through that 40 hour print without jamming or stopping; however, when they do jam, it’s often extremely hard to clear the extruder heads (the Smart Extruder + heads take care of this). As far as the software goes, it is rudimentary but constantly improving. The modeling for supports is not nearly as optimized than other programs, but all this means is that the prints aren’t as quick as they could be / more material is used.

I’m planning on redesigning it and positing a file on thingiverse. Went to college and my free time disappeared but I am sorry for the delay. I would post the original file but it was on my old laptop which died and the file couldn’t be recovered. Rip. When I do remake it, I will post the file. I promise you that.

Jesus Christ it wouldn’t post and I hit the button too many times in frustration. Apologies.
