Nurburgring-Developed Downforce Is Here For Volvo's V60 and S60 Polestar

They're already pretty brisk, but Volvo's Polestar-fettled V60 and S60 have been given aerodynamic add-ons developed during secret testing at one of the most famous tracks in the world

Volvo has given its charismatic S60 and V60 Polestar cruise missiles a light rub-down with a new carbonfibre aerodynamics package.

Comprising a new front splitter, new side sills and a rear spoiler extension, all designed by engineers from Polestar and Cyan Racing, Polestar’s motorsport partner, the new parts are said to add a helpful 30 per cent more downforce.

That, in turn, adds greater stability when you’re set to maximum-attack mode on a circuit or along a twisting mountain pass. A lot of the components were fine-tuned, says Polestar, which is now its own entity, during last year’s secret Nurburgring tests in the S60.

Naturally, there are also some token aesthetic changes on top of the lovely carbonfibre goodies. The diamond-cut Polestar wheels are now yours in high-gloss black, the seat upholstery has been changed but still has the blue contrast stitching, and the suspension has been tweaked: the Ohlins shocks and Brembo brakes are now slightly differently set up, but Polestar doesn’t say exactly how.

Power still comes from the 362bhp four-cylinder turbo, which cannons the car along nicely without really ever seeming dramatic. The S60 and V60 are rapid, stable and understated alternatives to the rather shouty alternatives in this part of the market; heavy but eyebrow-raisingly capable in the right hands. We’re definitely not going to complain about extra downforce.

I’ve received information that Volvo headquarters just have been attacked.
I was able to secure a picture of the attacker.

Well, with more power, they should make a rwd version. That would be cool. Otherwise it may understeer quite much.
