Thinking about picking one up, would you recommend it?

Mechanically, unless it’s the Quattro, it’s identical to my 2006 Jetta. I’d definitely recommend, but make sure you’re ready to put in preventive maintenance (car is relatively reliable if you take care of it). One big issue you need to know about that actually happened to my car is something called the cam follower. It’s a small design flaw. Basically that little piece costs about $50 and should be replaced every 100,000 km, and checked every 20,000 km, otherwise it’ll destroy your camshaft and you’ll need an engine rebuild (which is what happened to my car).

Also, you can spend $1500 US on an F23T turbo and get 350 whp. You won’t find power this cheap anywhere else I think.

Even tho I love mine, no you shouldn’t. It under performs one track due to being fwd and with haldex it’s quite heavy

Well she’s my baby so I’ll be a little bit biased lol. But in the year I’ve had her all that’s gone wrong is a crank position sensor. Been pretty sound to me
