Nearly 500 Corvette ZR1s Have Been Recalled

Nearly 500 Corvette ZR1s Have Been Recalled

The earliest examples of Chevrolet’s 2019 Corvette ZR1 have only just made their way onto the road, but already, 498 of them are being recalled.

The issue lies with a diagnostic module which can potentially enter a ‘fault state’ during hard braking or acceleration. That messes with the crash-sensing abilities of the car, and could even prevent the airbags from deploying in the event of an accident.

That’s not ideal given that most crashes tend to happen, you know, just after hard braking or acceleration. And don’t forget, we have already seen one 2019 ZR1 crash

A recall document obtained by Jalopnik states that an investigation into the issue was started on 8 May, with the decision to recall the cars made on 24 May.

The fix involves updating the software so that it can take a more aggressive driving style without being thrown out of kilter. All owners will be notified by 29 June.

Yeah good thing companies like land rover, VW, Acura, jaguar, subaru, fiat, Honda, BMW, mitsubishi, and volvo are less reliable or else chevy would be out of business by now.

I feel like everyone sees “Chevy” and “Recalls” and instantly switches on the joke mode. Yet, nobody bats an eye when this happens to everyone else. It’s not even an issue with reliability, nor does this make the car undrivable. If anything, you should be thanking GM for doing this, because that means they’re stepping in to fix their shit.

But, I’m on CarThrottle, so this is lost, anyway.

After their fiasco with ignition switches, they are an easy target to recall jokes.

Yeah, just like crashes and Mustangs. And nobody seems to remember when Aventadors literally BURST INTO FLAMES.

I’ve always had this weird idea of having like 5 test drivers at Chevy (or any company for that matter) daily drive them for a year or two just to find the problems that might arise.
