1995 Rover 220 Coupe Turbo (Tomcat)

Had this car for about 6 months a couple years ago. A Gorgeous looking car and the only car I’ve ever owned with leather seats and aircon (which sometimes worked. Unfortunately it did the typical rover stuff like being broken in one form or another more than it was working, ranging from knackered pulleys that where impossible to reach to getting totally freaked out electrically and not starting, turned out the wiring was getting brittle, stopping the temp sensor from talking to the ecu, resulting in a big lump of nope.

All it wanted to do was turn left as well….

I’ve never experienced a car with so much torque steer. As soon as the turbo kicked in it felt like Jesus was yanking the wheel over from the passenger seat. The chassis would flex on any road that wasn’t billiard table smooth and if there was even a breath of dampness on the road the wheels would spin in the first 3 gears, and thats with a Torsen LSD in the front.

Standard Rover really, ambitious but rubbish.
