Fiesta ST 2017 vs 2018 (mk7 vs mk8) as mom's daily driver

Well, my mother wants to sell her VW Crossfox and really likes the Fiesta’s price, safety, radio and looks, and there’s a small chance that she gets an ST because she likes to drive fast even if she doesn’t want to admit it fearing that her son will some day drive like a total maniac. But if you had saw her face when I told her that the ST has almost twice the power and it’s sold as a manual transmission only, you could tell she likes to have fun on mountain roads… but as the new Fiesta is just around the corner, should we wait?

Before letting me know on the comments why should we wait or why should we buy the mk7 now, read this context list:

-She wants a new car and there’s no way of telling her “but moooooom, you could get a 10 year old [insert better car’s name here] for that kind of money” so it has to be a new car
-There are no Fiesta Rivals in Colombia, it’s just the best car for that money, for example, you could choose between a base Fiesta a Nissan March/Micra that’s not the best option if you want the rubber side facing down all the time or a “well equiped” Kia Picanto with thin 155 tires, no typo, one hundred and fifty five thin tires, if someone spits on the road, a Picanto would be a scary car to drive
-There’s no way of knowing if the new Fiesta ST is comming to Colombia, sometimes marketing people or taxes just say no
-The Focus RS has a stupidly high price tag (you could buy a new A45 AMG and a Yamaha MT09 for the RS’ price) so I fear the 2018 Fiesta ST gets a higher price when/if it arrives

so, this is it, mom want’s a Fiesta, so please let me know your opinions, pros and cons on mk7 vs mk8

seems like Ford won’t sell more Fiestas… so old one it is
