Toyota Corolla TSport (2002) - A Boiling Hatch (Literally) #Supercarfastsleeper

Not many people like these cars, they’re really underrated but it is going to be a build of one of my dream cars… And I’ll show you that a Corolla is a fun car.

First of all, I want to present you the car I chose, it is a 2002 (USED in OLX/StandVirtual) Toyota Corolla TSPORT, that packs a 1.8VVTL-i 2ZZ-GE engine (NA) with 192hp (which means 107hp per litre in a Naturally Aspirated engine). I gotta be honest, stock this engine lacks a bit of torque, but it is a high revving engine, that has the ability to rev up to 8000rpm, and it has lift (the L in the VVTL-i logo stands for LIFT).
So… I’ll start!

Toyota Corolla TSport (back to those glorious TRD times!)

The first mods I would do probably would be in the exterior. Because I am not too fond in those pre-facelift front and rear, I would buy the Front Bumper and the Rear Bumper from the Facelifted model.
Oh… and I would paint it with a mouse grey colour! (Which is the same of my Corolla)
This is how it would look like! (excepting that it is a 5 door)

Now, the interesting part, the Engine!
The car as you already know, comes with a 1.8 VVTL-i engine, but Toyota, in the facelifted one, had a special edition of the TSport, with a supercharged 1.8VVTL-i engine producing 225hp at 7800rpm/max rpm at 8200(Toyota Official data) and 230NM of torque at 3600rpm. (though there was a 260hp version with the power coming at 8000rpm)
So, first I would do the 2ZZ-GE Supercharged SWAP which would cost around 3340€. Not cheap… But we didn’t quite get there yet… Now the car is with around 225hp buy it’s far from being prepared…

The next change would be the swap of the Eaton M45 supercharger to an Eaton M90 which would help not only to make more power but also to get more torque(Around 310hp atm). This upgrade would cost 751€. We could increase the engine capacity, but we want to make the most out of the original engine, and that bigger displacement would cost us more than 6500€

I think a Twin-Charged engine is something insane, but because I love insane things, this engine would surely be a Twin-Charged engine. We have got the Supercharger already and it is time to get the turbo. We don’t want more than 1bar (14PSI). So the Turbo would be a GTX3076R GEN II Reverse Rotation from Garret which is the best turbo for a 1.8l displacement engine… Power, only with the turbo can float between 400 to 750hp. It will cost us 1335€.

Now, we need new pistons to get those insane levels of horsepower… For that, we are going to use Mahle forged Pistons made for the 2ZZ-GE with 10.5:1 compression 82mm. These pistons give us the ability to rev up to almost 10000RPM!!! This forged piston kit would cost around 492€.

We want our engine to breath well, so we will install an AEM polished cold air intake which would cost around 283€.

We will need new camshafts for the TSport and because we care about the engine, we will install MWR Camshafts (this is a set) - STAGE 3!!!!!
It will help the car to make more 3-5hp, but everything counts in this competition! It would cost around 523€.

We should use a Ferrea Dual Valve Spring and Titanium Retainer Kit when combined with a camshaft upgrade, and that is what we are going to do! It would cost us around 592€.

This is a 10000rpm engine, so it needs a good cooling system as well. We will use 2 radiators, a Forge Motorsport and a Koyo Racing. They cost 497€ and 330€ respectively

Nowadays, a good car needs a good computer, and we will use a high quality GReddy eManage Ultimate, which will cost us around 492€.

This engine is extremely modified already so we need good spark plugs that can handle everything. For that job, we are using NGK BKR9EIX Iridium Spark Plugs which will cost us around 7€ each.

WE NEED MORE, fuel injectors this time. We will use a MWR Fuel Injector set which will leave us without 673€…

A fast car needs good brakes, and this one is no exception. We will use (front) a AP Big Brake Upgrade kit with 330mm and in the rear we would adapt the stock front ventilated disks. 3593€

A FWD car won’t handle this amount of power and even if it does, our tires would be dead after some minutes. The Toyota XRS came with an AWD system if I’m not mistaken so we would swap that system to this E12! We would need to make something about the diferencial and the axles as well. I am predicting this would cost us around 4000€ if we would find a car in the junkyard.

We are all aware that the stock transmission and clutch won’t handle that power so we will install an EXEDY E153 All – ST3 Ceramic Racing 3-Puck clutch that will cost us 397€. The new transmission is the MWR Kaaz Road Race with 6 speed which will be quite expensive, at 5012€.

Oh, btw, we need new engine mounts, which will cost us around 342€

Now, let’s get to the interesting part of this challenge…

PRICE:
Toyota Corolla TS: 8890€
Swap: 3340€ - 1900€ (due to the old engine we could sell)

AWD
6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION… And you know everything else!

Now, times and SPEEEEEEEDD

STOCK:
0-100Km/h - 6.4sec
Top SPEED (announced) - 230Km/h (even though it was higher even in the non SC TSPORT)

TSPORT+
0-100Km/h - 2.31 seconds (with slicks)(could do better, but it weights very little) (tested in a game with this same engine)
Top Speed - Almost 410Km/h due to gearbox limitation!
Weight- aprox. 1400kg

AND HERE IT IS(imagine it has got 5 doors)! THANK YOU ALL FOR READING!

You can’t just convert FWD- AWD. This car was designed to be FWD, and a transfer case/ AWD transaxle wouldn’t fit. Plus, the driveshaft would not fit either as it has a low floor like a FWD car does. And a top speed of 410 KM/H isn’t possible due to the drag resistance, no matter how much WHP you are making. Also, your total cost is WAY too low. There is no way you can build a car that fast with this platform for that price.

The rules didn’t say that it would need to be realistic in every way..
The amount of power is possible. There are builds, with that engine(2zzge), with 750whp, and with a single turbo.
And there is a version of that car(E12) with an AWD system(with a 1.5l engine).

Oh nice, and thank you man!
I love your car so freaking much, and how I wish to afford one… (Maybe after the 18, if possible!)
I have got to be honest, I’m so jealous of you because of that T-Sport 🤪🤫😂

If you actually ever do this,it would be an insane build.Good choise m8.Also,one of uncle has a t-sport(named alex for the asian market)but I would like to say that u should instead go for kn n intake and excedy stage 3 racing clutch,I’ve also experienced a ride and its a beast, did 160km with it

Yes, it would. It’s a dream to do something like this, but I don’t know how my life is going to be so I can’t predict anything. And emissions are an issue as well. People nowadays only care about the environment.
:(
But thank you, and I’m jealous of your uncle 😂🤤
