If you’re really, really rich, buying a car doesn’t involve something as vulgar as an options list. No: if you’re buying from an uber-luxury brand - particularly one like Rolls-Royce - you can have your wildest dreams realised, provided you have the cash.

And some rich people’s dreams are rather wild. Rolls-Royce has revealed details of some of the more unusual bespoke creations it created last year, providing a fascinating and at times bizarre glimpse into how the other half lives.

Take the interior above, from a Wraith built to mark the opening of Rolls-Royce’s Porto Cervo Summer Studio in Sardinia. See the leather on the centre console and doors? It’s not taken from anything as common as a cow. No, it’s ostrich leather, which is apparently more supple. And presumably much more expensive. The Wraith and a similarly specced Dawn were both sold to customers visiting the swanky studio.

Then there’s this ‘Pebble Beach Dawn’, commissioned by American car collector Michael Fux. It’s painted in his own colour - Fux Blue - which Rolls says “will remain reserved for his exclusive use”. That’s right, buyers have the option to add their own colours, and make sure no one else uses them. Apparently Mr Fux has a few.

To contrast the special colour, the interior is trimmed in white. And I mean all of it. We’re guessing Fux has a ‘no food in the car’ rule…

Next up, we’re going to take a look at this high-performance yacht-inspired Dawn, built for an unnamed customer from Florida. It was given an Arctic White/Midnight Sapphire two-tone paint job, plus an interior clock modeled on the customer’s favourite watch. There’s even a bunch of maritime signal flags on the sill kick plate, which spell out the name ‘Dawn’.

Finally, there’s this ‘Peace and Glory Phantom’. Built for an entrepreneur in the Far East, it features some exquisite embroidery intended to replicate tiger stripes, along with some personal motifs hand-stitched into the headrests.

So there you go, a little look at what it’s like to be exceedingly rich. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’d like to go and sit in my 12-year-old VW Golf for a little while to contemplate my life choices.

I remember walking into a high end purse store for fun with my ex back in the day. They had a small purse made of ostrich leather. The price? 25k USD. I cant even begin to imagine the price of that feature in a rolls…
