FM7 Short Reviews #3| 1997 Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R

The R33 GT-R is probably one of the most overshadowed GT-Rs in my opinion

The R33 GTR… Overshadowed by the R32 and R34. But its actually a really great car.
The R33 GT-R was launched in January 1993 as the successor to the legendary R32 model. The R33 used the same 2.6 Liter twin-turbo engine (RB26) as the R32. The R33 GT-R is a great car and it’s pretty underestimated and it has always been that it has been overshadowed by the R32 and R34 since they are more popular and the R33 GT-R is just the awkward child left in the middle. But the R33 GT-R packs a punch, I also have always been one of my least favourite GT-Rs since I always thought the R32 and R34 were much cooler but that has started to change over time and it was real blast throwing this car around the Nordschleife. It just took the corners so well and just kept on pushing without problems!

Pros:
The R33 GT-R is a really good performer, it takes the corners really well and just flies out of a corner. It has a really nice power delivery and has a special feeling when you drive it. You almost never feel scared that it can’t take a corner or won’t perform well since it always performs so well and with its 255km/h top speed it sure doesn’t lack speed at the straights. The R33 GT-R is a really good made car.

Cons:
This car is really good but if I could point out one thing is that it’s hard to feel the limit so when you go past the limit it’s over. It just to accept your fate and hope for the best. It sometimes can feel a little heavy but that isn’t often. This car is a really well put together car so I can’t really give it much hate. It isn’t perfect but it’s not anywhere near a bad car. A little more punch from the engine had been fun but as you know with its RB26 its easy tuneable but as a stock car a little more punch had been fun.

If we need to come to a conclusion, the R33 GT-R is a really well-made car that gives you a fun experience that sure will make you happy. It has a lot of tuning potential to even be more of a fun track car. It always is predictable and with its AWD ATTESA-ETS Pro system and you never doubt that the car won’t perform as you think until it does. It handles really well maybe a little soft but you don’t really feel when you go over the limit and that ends up with when you go over the limit it’s over and just accept your fate. But other than that it doesn’t really have any big flaws for me to complain about and with that, I will give this car an 80% in my scoring. Would I recommend this car? Absolutely! But that was all for this time!

Bad = 0 - 25%
Good 26 - 50%
Very Good 51 - 75%
Amazing = 76 - 100%

Also sorry for not posting these Reviews for at least 2 weeks, I am having a lot of personal issues right now and don’t have the time and the passion to keep making these regularly as I had planned. I will try my best to try to make at least 2 come out every week but I won’t promise anything since my mood is very up and down right now. But at least you have this one for a little while.

But until next time, see ya! //Niaisk

Yeah. A couple of years ago if you asked me I would have taken the R32 or R34 any day over the R33 but I was only a child back then. But today I think different and actually think that it’s a great car and would absolutely pick one up for the right price if I could :)

What I never understood about the R33 was the “air dam”-style front bumper. It seems weird to have it so much longer than the rest of the body. The R34 has it too but on the R33 it is more noticeable.

Yeah, I understand what you mean, honestly, I have never even thought about that but now when you say it does look a little weird but I guess every car has some sort of quirk :)
