It Looks Like Mercedes Will Only Make 2000 AMG GT Rs

As we explained recently, buying a car with a limited production run is a surefire way to make a hell of a lot of money. With that in mind, there’s some good news for whoever’s managed to snag themselves one of AMG’s new 577bhp GT Rs: according to Autocar, Mercedes hinted at the car’s recent reveal that production will be capped at just 2000 units. So, expect us before too long to be writing about an AMG GT R in the classifieds with a madly inflated price.

It is worth pointing out though, that the GT R is unlikely to be the ultimate version of the AMG GT. It’s thought that Mercedes might make an even more hardcore version, resurrecting the ‘Black Series’ brand. In addition, a drop-top cabriolet version will also join the ranks at some point.
