This isn’t the first time we’ve seen cars destined for the Indian market fail horribly in crash tests, but it makes it no less shocking this time around. The two cars in question are the Datsun Go (above) and the Suzuki Maruti Swift (below), and both scored zero stars in Global NCAP tests.

The structures of both cars faired very poorly, and neither vehicle was equipped with airbags - although they are optional on the Swift. It’s worth noting that the European version of the Swift scored five stars in a Euro NCAP test, which makes us feel much better about the fact we’re driving around in one for the next few months.

Global NCAP said that the results highlight the need for India to finally bring in minimum crash safety regulations, a point that’s difficult to argue with after watching these videos.
