Here's Your First Chance To Listen To The 2018 Ford Mustang GT's Active Exhaust

One of the 2018 Mustang GT's most notable changes is the new optional active exhaust. Here's how it sounds...

While our stance is that the GT is the Mustang to have, we always found it a shame that the V8 in ‘our’ long-term test example wasn’t a little more shouty.

Happily, Ford has addressed the GT’s surprisingly muted exhast note, by giving the facelifted 2018 car the option of a trick active exhaust. Thanks to these two videos, we can get a good idea of how it sounds.

Neither clip shows the engine under load, nor do they show the ‘Stang revving all the way around to the red line, but it’s clear the new pipework gives the car a throatier sound. The pops and bangs aren’t excessive either. We’re rather looking forward to hearing it in person.

What do you think?

All those ‘active exhaust’ and many other stuff are making the car more expensive…
Muscle cars supposed to be a cheap coupe with massive engine, not expensive…

It’s still cheaper than European cars. Any cheaper will be bad quality built. It have a decent interior quality not like the previous mustang gen. Ford really try hard to make a decent interior and to prove americans cars folklore for being bad in interiors finish and quality are not present in their new mustangs.

Dual exhausts are gifts from the car gods. You can have a silent exhaust that won’t anger the neighbors or a screamer that will break windows. All with the press of a button.

People may complain about the looks,

But you can never complain about the sound.

I really like the new look, because it reminds me of the 1968 and 1969 Mustang whereas the 2016 Mustang should remind you of the 1966’s.
