Here's What Happens When You Drag Race A BMW M4 GTS Against An M3
The price of the BMW M4 GTS really is rather hard to stomach. At £121,770 it’s near enough double what you’d pay for a standard M4 or M3, and while we know that buys you a massive increase in cornering capability (it’s 24 seconds faster around the Nurburgring than a boggo M4), what does it give you in straight line speed?
To find out, Top Gear Magazine lined a GTS up next to an M3 Competition Pack on a runway for a cheeky drag race. Neither car was launched in a particularly gentle way, leading to massive amounts of wheelspin. Perhaps the point was to demonstrate that the extra power in the GTS exacerbates the M3/4’s traction issues - we’re really not sure.
But still, it’s an entertaining family quarrel to see played out. Press play and enjoy.

GTS is a miss IMO
It was setup just for one track. I love cars that are developed on the Nürburgring, but the GTS is too much
It is because GTS has water tank in its boot
Imo the GTS server absolutely no purpose other than an investment. It’s slower than competition in the same price range and it’s own sibling: aka the M3 or M4 cost half as much and are slightly slower…
what BMW needs to do is bring a 700-800 HP Beast with a manual for an affordable price abd be in the game of showing the American muscle fanboys whats up after all their hating…I love American Muscle as well, but love JDM,Euro, etc.
lile I’m talking more power, less price and a definition of a bargain…could also help boost sales…

so buy an m3
do some weight reduction rollcage and a tune
and then you can spend the rest on whatever you want
Or even better: buy used M5 tune to 900ps remove limiter and wreck everything on the Autobahn
Wait. The m3 is on supersport and the m4 on sport cup 2. Does that mean you gotta put heat before sport cup to be effective?
I have to say, BMW M series are not worth more than 100k. I would rather spend 100k on a house and a decent car or a house with multiple garages. You can buy a Hellcat that will smoke these cars for aboht 60k. So i know where my money is going.
No one cross-shops an M4 GTS or even an M3 Comp Pack and a one-trick pony like the Hellcat.
The m3 is around 60 k and the m4 gts is a track version of the m4 that is used as a base for the gt4. The m4 isn’t even a saloon and no hellcat will beat one of those outside a dragstrip
The M4 GTS is rated to be on par with 911 GT3 and AMG GTS. This half moist UK drag race is not going to change the truth captured by other car professional magazines. The 0-60 gap of a whole 0.7 seconds with other magazines indicates that at least the GTS was driven by a dodo!
My friend owns a 991.1 GT3 and I could never imagine taking an M4 GTS over that. Obviously just an opinion but to me the GT3 looks better and sounds MILES better.
GTS is stupid. £120k for a slightly spruced-up (and semi-riced - after all it has gold rims) M4. An M5 would be quicker for much less money.
