We had the new Porsche 911 GTS showing its pretty face to the world only a few weeks ago, and hot on its heels is this: the Cayenne GTS. Yep, the refreshed Porka SUV has been given the GTS treatment, and in case you’re confused as to what this means in the slightly convoluted Cayenne range, this is the car that sits between the S and the Turbo.

Now we’ve cleared that up, we’ll move on to the biggest change with the new GTS: the V8’s gone. The 4.8-litre lump the old Cayenne GTS rocked has been shown the door, and in its place we have a bi-turbo 3.6-litre V6.

But, worry not, it’s still rather brisk. In fact, with 434bhp and 443lb ft on offer, it’s about 20bhp more powerful and 63lb ft torquier than before, and it’ll do 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds, 0.5sec quicker than the old V8 car. The top speed, meanwhile, is 162mph, and as you’d expect, it now has less of a drinking problem and burns a little cleaner.

It sits 24mm lower than the standard vehicle, (20mm if you splash out on the optional air suspension) and comes with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard. The brakes have been suitably beefed up, with the GTS borrowing the meaty stoppers from its Cayenne Turbo big brother, with 390mm discs at the front and 358mm at the rear.

There’s also a new entry-level Cayenne being introduced along with the hotter GTS. Its 3.6-litre V6 kicks out 296bhp, getting it from 0-62mph in 7.7 seconds and to a top speed of 143mph. Although unless you’re allergic to oil-burners, you’re probably better off spending a few hundred quid more to get the entry-level diesel which gets to 62mph quicker and is more economical.

Both of these new Cayennes are on sale now, with the entry level V6 setting you back £49,576, and the GTS priced at £72,523.
