This is the first official trailer for the 2019 blockbuster car movie Ford v. Ferrari, based on the famous 1960s rivalry between the two endurance racing rivals.

Starring Christian Bale as British driver Ken Miles and Matt Damon as the legendary Carroll Shelby, the film seems to be at least partly inspired by the cult success of Rush, the modestly embellished but beautifully produced story of James Hunt and Niki Lauda’s 1976 rivalry in Formula 1.

Here’s The First Trailer For Ford V. Ferrari, 2019’s Essential Car Movie

Ford v. Ferrari focuses on Ford’s furious mission to beat Ferrari at its own game. Two years into its endurance racing programme it had achieved very little with the disappointing GT40 MkI, and at the end of 1964 it gave Shelby the reins of the racing team. Success followed in early 1965.

With a promising race win at Daytona in February, Ford asked Shelby to design and build a car to outdo the mighty Ferrari 330 P3. They gave him an intensely short period of time in which to do it – allegedly as little as 90 days. In the movie Miles and Shelby work together to turn the disappointing MkI into the all-conquering MkII, developing it through race after race, until the main event.

Let us know what you think of the trailer. The full release is scheduled for November this year.

Looks good. I’ll definitely watch it. Good car movies don’t come out that often.

Since my family will not let me watch it, I will watch it 3 years after the launch when you can find it on in-flight entertainment screens on airplanes in the economy class section.

The Rush, Mad Max and this Ford V. Ferrari feels like a great refresh for automotive enthusiasts to look for something unique and accurate from all the nonsense Fast and Furious became.

I agree with you, Fast and Furious has lost its way now and a sad thing, it use to be good but now Rush, Mad Max and Ford v Ferrari are all way better and cooler films!

“I was born ready son”

I can’t wait, so excited this is finally being committed to film in a big way. The cars (set extras cars too) and the soundtrack (songs and exhaust note) and the cast… this is going to be an instant classic!

Just an awesome story.

Looks good… But I hope to see the GT40 being designed in Slough, England. I’m scared this won’t be shown.
