Here's A First Look At The Crew 2 Gameplay, Featuring Newly Added Boats And Planes

The Crew 2 is adding more vehicle variety with the addition of boats and planes, so you can not only hit the open road on bikes and in cars, but also take to the water and sky too.

Last month Ubisoft announced that a sequel to 2014’s The Crew would be coming at some point in the next year, but very few details were revealed about the game (apart from a logo).

During Ubisoft’s E3 press conference, a load of information on The Crew 2 was released alongside a beautiful trailer showing off the vast range of cars and locations in the game.

Despite some rumours and expectations, the game would be set in Europe or an all-new location, it remains in the USA but on an expanded and redesigned map of the country.

It’s been branded “Motornation”, which embodies the “American motorsport spirit” – so there’s less focus on street racing, like in the previous game, with much more racing variety and choice (especially with the newly-added disciplines).

In The Crew 2, players can fly around the snowcapped Rocky Mountains, burn rubber on New York’s streets, explore the Mississippi River and take in the Grand Canyon. So, you can really soak up the sights of the USA.

Following on from the glitzy trailer and E3 press conference, Ubisoft presented us with a walk-through demo of the game with pre-alpha footage.

Detailing some of the new disciplines, such as boats and planes, as well as the locations on offer, it provided us with a cool glimpse at what to expect.

The Crew 2 is set for release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in early 2018, as well as newer additions Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro.

What next? A feature to walk on foot? This game is becoming more like GTA

With its wonky physics and handling, is that necessarily a bad thing?

Better support from auto manufacturers. These games are giant advertisements. The only change is that manufacturers are actually starting to be happy with how their products are being represented in the digital world.

What the bloody hell is this nonsense?

For all its foibles and it’s (at times) repetitive gameplay, I actually liked the storyline of The Crew. It was simple and down to earth.
Now, the series looks to be heading down the same road as the Fast & Furious franchise, snowballing into a ridiculous caricature of what it once was.

As if the original wasn’t? You had f’cking Camaro rally cars and Skyline monster trucks with cop chases.
