Last month, the Hennessey Venom GT Spyder became the 'world's fastest convertible' after hitting a massive 265.6mph. This video takes a behind-the-scenes look at what went into the incredible top speed run
This bonkers top speed run is yet to be recognised by Guinness as an ‘official’ world record and most likely won’t ever be. Like the previous speed ‘record’ clocked by the coupe Venom GT, the Spyder’s effort won’t be considered by the organisation as not enough of the cars have been made for it to qualify as a production vehicle.
Official or not though, I’m sure we’ll all agree 265.6mph in a car without a roof is a stunning achievement.

Structure dude. A normal car would probably fold in half at those speeds with no roof.
But why would you want convertible car that go more than 200mph
Could you imagine that wind noise?
Dont forget the unstability…not everyone that can afford it would be able to control it
Is it based on the Lotus? Like do they take a Lotus and make it a Venom or do they make it from scratch? It wouldn’t be a production car if they didn’t make it from scratch right?
