GTA Online's New Racing-Themed Event Kicks Off With Five New Cars

It’s been well over four years since the online portion of Grand Theft Auto V was launched and Rockstar has been keeping things fresh with a nice, constant stream of updates and new content. The latest of those is the ‘Southern San Andreas Super Sport Series’, which promises to introduce plenty of racing-themed goodies over the next couple of months.

To get you started there are five new cars. First up is the Cheval Taipan, a Hennessey Venom F5-esque super car that’ll cost you just shy of $2,000,000 in-game dollars.

If that’s not expensive enough for you, then there’s another addition to the super class in the shape of the Koenigsegg-inspired Entity XXR. The price? A hefty $2,305,000.

Next up is the mid-engined, four-wheel drive Vapid GB200, a clear copy of the legendary Group B Ford RS200 which can be given the full-on customisation treatment to look like the rally weapon it was born to be.

Bizarrely for an update focused on racing, Rockstar has decided to include a car based on the Volvo Amazon estate. What the Vulcar Fagaloa lacks in speed, however, it makes up for in style, with plenty of customisation options available for you to put your own spin on the retro wagon.

The final car is perhaps the star of the update and should be instantly familiar to anyone who played Vice City or San Andreas. The Hotring Sabre is GTA Online’s take on a late ‘80s/early ‘90s Nascar racer and comes in a variety of awesome liveries.

You'll need to spend $830,000 to buy the Hotring Sabre and compete in the Hotring Circuit events

The Hotring Sabre also features in the new racing mode, Hotring Circuit, a toned-down version of the stunt races which sees up to 30 cars racing at once at any one of 10 different track layouts.

Hotring Circuit is the first of two new racing modes coming as part of this update. The other is called Target Assault, where teams of two have to marry driving skills with shooting proficiency in order to score points.

Target Assault isn’t coming until 3 April, but the new cars and Hotring Circuit events are available right now, with double RP and GTA$ being offered until 26 March. There are also discounts on vehicle storage and customisation options, perfect for making the most of all of those shiny new motors.

Loads more content is also being introduced as part of the update, including new races and new track creator tools, all of which will be rolled out over the next couple of months.

Worst part about this update is the new physics mechanism code called ‘engine resistance’ and ‘advanced flags’ added to all these new vehicles, which basically negates any extreme dynamic driving making them really really slow. Slower than the cars which were added in the previous DLCs. So unless the code isn’t changed, just avoid the DLC cars completely. Theyre just a waste of money. Only the NASCAR and the electric Lambo ripoff which will be drip fed sometime in the near future, don’t have these codes will drive well.

Brouighy did say that these cars are slow because they’re slow, not because of the engine resistance effect, the engine resistance just plays into that as a part of the problem.

I have the NASCAR and I can confirm that it’s pretty bad all around.

Yea, I played the new gamemode and the NASCAR seemed more like a LADA.

The cars go 0-40 1 s
40-80 1 s
80 - 110 1,5s
110-135 0,5s

Yeah it needs a patch

335,000 for a car that wouldn’t fetch you over 10,000 in the US.

Because you can make 10,000 in about 2 minutes, they want you to grind for the car and feel rewarded

GTA Online sucks when you can’t play online. I wish that the DLCs were on single player too

If you don’t intend to play gtaoline at all you should just mod them in your game.

As a big time GTAO player I always feel like when CT cover it it’s like Main Stream Media covering Youtubers. Ha I g said that this one was pretty good.

Also am I the only one that thinks the prices for this DLC car actually pretty reasonable?

As a person that averages about 200,000 in their gta account, I agree

They are overpriced, but not extremely. I’m kinda between the people who think it is reasonably priced and people who always boast about every dlc costing hundreds of dollars (of real money). Although making money is not a hard thing in this game. One of my friends just got the game, in an hour he had enough money for a high-end house where we did all heists in order which took as around 5 hours. He finished that day with 3mil+ in the bank. (All in order bonus, Team loyality bonus, First time bonus, Heist payouts).

It’s a hardware problem on top of the software problem. Those loading times are similar to a 10 year old PC.
