Ford has confirmed a series of massive discounts and help packages for people affected by the terrible flooding in and around Houston, in Texas.

Firstly, current Houston-based owners of Ford or Lincoln cars who are making finance payments can apply to have them deferred for up to two months by getting in touch with Ford Credit or Lincoln Automotive Financial services, either online, using the FordPass app or by calling 800 723 4016.

The next part of the massive aid scheme is an extension of Ford’s staff discount scheme, dubbed “Texas Is Family”. It applies to Ford owners whose cars were lost or destroyed by the flood waters and gives them access to a replacement at below-invoice prices, with ‘low’ finance rates and no payments until next year.

First responders in areas affected by Hurricane Harvey will get an extra $1000 off on top of all other discounts, which is a kind gesture to those people whose help is most needed.

Ford is also contributing ‘up to $500,000’ to the initial Texan disaster relief efforts, while Ford dealers in the devastated areas have already donated a collective $200,000 towards the ongoing costs as part of a commitment to try to raise a million dollars. Whatever they raise, Ford itself will match up to $1.5 million.

Some 13 Ford dealers in the Houston region are closed, but most have stayed open despite sustaining damage in the storms. Ford says that 10 dealerships suffered ‘extensive’ damage, but that even some of these have been kept open by the determination of their staff.

Or someone from the marketing department saw it as an opportunity to increase sales and look good as a company, trying to switch people from their competitors brand into Ford.
