A few details about Skyline tail lights

On most Skylines the lights are indented, but they are less so in at the top.
Above are my tail lights and they sit about 2-3mm inwards at the top and 20mm in at the bottom.

The R33 tail lights have a cone-shape inside while the glass bulges out like a bubble. R33 coupes have the indicator below the light housing and the GT-R only has one reverse light.

R32 tail lights are flat across the face but the “nipple” doesn’t stick out like on the R34. The reverse lights are the clear C-shapes by the number plate.
The tail lights sit about 5mm in at the top while the inner lights are pushed in as much as 25mm.

R34 coupe tail lights aren’t perfectly round. The smaller one has the indicator in the middle. The GT-R only has one reverse light - the other light is painted orange.

The R32 sedan and Series 1 R33 sedan have perfectly round tail lights encased in glass. The reverse light on the R32 and R33 S1 is hidden between the stop lights.

The series 2 and series 3 R33 tail lamps stick out.

The KenMeri C110 is famous for its “afterburners” which have been on every Skyline ever since - even the G35 has them hidden inside the glass housing, however the V35 has a cluster of 21 small circles on each side.

The G35/V35 coupe tried to keep the afterburner tradition alive.

The round tail lights date back to the Prince Skyline - the 2nd Skyline.
The first Skyline was flared like a Chevrolet Bel-Air but was marginally larger than the Datsun Bluebird.

Nice. Why is the reverse light on the opposite side?

Not much to say - they literally copied the R34 tail lights.

A great, information packed post about Skyline taillights from a guy in the land of cheap, easy to find Skylines. You guys even make Australia look like they’re rare

Lol yeah. They have become ‘hood cars. All the gangsta-g bros have them. That R32 sedan had rust/rot in the boot.
