Doug DeMuro Just Bought A Quirk-Tastic 2005 Ford GT

YouTuber and columnist DeMuro has bought a relatively high mileage GT. Yes, there are quirks...

While “Hey, look, I bought a supercar!” videos are ridiculously common on YouTube, buying a Ford GT is a much bigger deal for Doug DeMuro, the man insists here. He says he agonised over the decision, eventually caving and buying the very same 2005 example featured in his comparison video with the new GT. He attributes being able to afford it to not drinking, not clubbing and wearing less than fashionable clothes. How about that for sacrifice?

With 31,000 miles on the clock, it’s reasonably well-travelled for a car like this, but that’s fine, as DeMuro intends to actually drive the thing rather than stuffing it away in an air-conditioned garage.

And yes, there are indeed quirks. We don’t get quite as thorough an examination here as usual - since Doug’s did the honours with another GT a couple of years ago - but we get a few interesting nuggets.

We have award frunk access, equally awkward fuel filler access, and - of course - all the various bits and pieces from the Ford parts bin. A $150k supercar with Focus indicator stalks? You betcha.

Doug’s promised to be doing regular updates on the GT on his new channel ‘More Doug DeMuro’, where you can find, erm, more Doug DeMuro.

We can’t wait to see what he gets up to with the car.

The reason why we are all surprised (which we all should be), is that, I am quoting a comment I saw on YouTube, Doug never makes a ton of annoying, teasing, clickbaity titled video that goes like “I AM GOING TO BUY A $$$$$ NEW CAR”….etc. Which compared to some other car YouTuber, who shall remain nameless (start with vehicle and end with virgins), it is really nice and refreshing from a viewer’s perspective. It really shows that Doug is doing all these because he is passionate about cars himself, not to impress others on Internet.

Midwest Hoonigan

I wonder how he’ll deal with the seats since that was a sort of big deal for him. Maybe a seat cover over a small blanket or pad, or will he have just a small pillow like you would see in some geriatric’s car?

i would imagine if he strap a pillow and tie them through those holes in the seats
or simply swap them out

Bullshit. I have Autism myself and I’ve done a lot of research on the subject. It is completely false.
And what does this have to do with this?

Autism is a born disorder, I can speak with experience… vaccines have absolutely f*ck all to do with it… because due to constant head-aches and migraine attacks, I was stuffed with vaccines as a kid, and if anything, I’ve only started fitting into society more and more over time, not the other way around. While I can still learn things relatively quickly for my age.

I also don’t drink, don’t club, and have cheap cloths, maybe I can buy a Ford GT.
(Looks at bank account)
Maybe I could take out a loan to buy a toy version?

Original Ford Fiesta ST perhaps? It’s about the same age as the GT, and is also available with racing stripes.
