Dodge Is Trying To Stop Customers Paying Too Much For The Demon

Examples of Dodge's monster 840bhp Challenger SRT Demon will be allocated to dealers that won't sell for above list price
Dodge Is Trying To Stop Customers Paying Too Much For The Demon

With many new performance cars, you’ll have to pay a premium if you want to get the jump on the waiting list. But that’s not the case with the Dodge Demon, which laughs at the face of high pricing.

In an unusual but commendable business model, Dodge doesn’t want customers to pay more than the retail price for a new Demon, so it’ll prioritise deliveries of the 840bhp Challenger to dealers that sell it at Dodge’s asking price or even below. Also, the dealers getting to sell Demons will need to have sold at least one Challenger or Charger Hellcat in the last year.

So in theory, you shouldn’t have to spend anything over the $84,995 asking price. That’s a lot of power for a relatively skinny pricetag: it’ll do 0-60mph in a Chiron-beating 2.3 seconds and will monster a quarter-mile in under 10 seconds. And, as we revealed last month, options for the Demon start at just $1.

The Demon even comes with a factory safety warning, which makes it sound even more exciting. Dodge has set up a special concierge phone line for Demon dealers and customers, and each car sold will come with a document signed by both parties to ensure the car isn’t above list price.

You’ll be very lucky if you get your hands on a Demon. Dodge is only planning to sell it for one year, and is limiting to production to 3300 cars. The production run is solely for North America, with three thousand destined for the US and three hundred for Canada. It’s available for dealers to order now.

Nice to know that I can beat a Chiron in a straight line whilst still doing 0-60 miles per gallon😜

In a world where car guys cant afford their dream cars because of unscrupulous (non car guy) dealers and wealthy collectors jacking up prices looking to turn a profit, im glad manufacturers are standing up for us

It gets 0 when you’re idling, then it gets 60 when you coast.

Correction: 0-60 in a Chiron-Tying 2.3s! Yes, it will beat the Veyron SS in a 1/4 mile but we don’t know yet about the Chiron! A race will happen to prove which one will win! We’re all waiting for the DemonVSChiron!

I’m pretty sure the 2.3 figure for the Chiron is with 1-foot rollout. The Demon’s 2.3 is not, it’s the actual time. Time the Dodge with rollout and its 0-60 in 2.1 seconds
