Dodge Challenger Redeye Tuned Beyond 1000bhp By Hennessey

Hennessey's HPE1000 Redeye pack gives the car's HEMI V8 a hefty 1021bhp output

We like the idea of the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye very much. As a car that gives you much of the Demon’s clout in a cheaper, non-production-limited package, what’s not to like?

For some deranged folk, however, 797bhp just isn’t enough. And those who want even more poke from their supercar-bothering Challenger Redeyes can now give Hennessey a ring to unlock some more power. Quite a lot more, in fact.

The company’s HPE1000 Hellcat Redeye kit swaps the standard 2.7-litre supercharger for a 4.5-litre unit, upgrades the pulley, swaps out the throttle body and beefs up the injectors. A more efficient intake system is added too, along with a stainless steel exhaust manifold and high-flow catalytic converters.

This lifts the output of the HEMI V8 to (if you’re running on race fuel) 1021bhp. More than the original Bugatti Veyron, we feel compelled to note. When it comes to torque, you’ll have 948lb ft of glorious twist to enjoy.

The finishing touches include Hennessey-branded floor mats, serial number plaques, and Hennessey ‘Premium’ floormats. Each will no doubt add an extra 5bhp. There’s no word on performance, but the standard car’s 0-60mph time of 3.4 seconds should drop nicely on upgraded cars.

The cost of the pack is $34,950, so once you factor in the price of a brand new Redeye, you are looking at a car weighing in over $100k. But still, for something with 1000bhp, that’s a good bang-for-buck ratio.

Frankly I’d just have a Hellcat widebody with the HPE1000 package. No use in spending the extra money for a Redeye if they’re just gonna tune it to the same horsepower

The engine in the redeye is from the demon, so it has slight differences compared to the hellcats engine. The redeye also has various other bits from the demon. So I’d bet that it has more tuning potential than the hellcat.

Claiming power figures using racing fuel is kinda pointless for the customer. Yea its nice it say that the car makes 1000hp but as a consumer, if i cant make that power on pump gas then whats the point? The regular hellcats make about 810whp on 93 octane with just basic pulleys, injectors and a good tune (all for around $3000) which makes Hennessys race fuel powered package rather pointless given its cost

Completely agree , yes a lot of customers will use this package on the strip and this true, too . But for me the power outputs for both factory or tuned cars needs to be declared on the most “streetable” tune and the lowest octane number !

1021hp…. on race fuel. Yeah, nobody is buying race fuel unless they’re taking this to the drag strip. Even then, race gas ain’t cheap. I’d rather throw E85 in it because it’s cheaper, cools better, is more widely available, and far cheaper per gallon.
