Detroit 2019 Toyota Supra Reveal Confirmed As Pre-Orders Open

We’ve been fairly sure for a while now that the A90 Supra will receive its full debut at the Detroit Auto Show next January. And at last, the car’s Detroit reveal has been confirmed, albeit from an unlikely source.

Toyota Deutschland’s Facebook page posted up the video below, noting that German customers can reserve an A90 Supra online starting 2 October. Responding to a user complaining that the car is still wearing camouflage in all promotional shots, the page responded “World Premiere is at the Detroit Motor Show in January. We still need some patience…”

Endlich ist es soweit! 😍 Ab dem 2.10.2018 ab 8 Uhr kannst du deinen Toyota Supra online reservieren! Mehr Infos unter: www.toyota.de/supra

Whether or not the page administrator in question was supposed to drop that little nugget of information, we’re not sure, but 16 hours later at the time of writing the comment is still up. The page later added that “The market launch has nothing to do with a special philosophy. We announced the return of the Supra at a very early stage and thus complied with the wishes of our customers.”

Detroit 2019 Toyota Supra Reveal Confirmed As Pre-Orders Open

The page noted that only 300 will be available for 2019 in the country, with 900 coming to Europe as a whole next year. Once the 300 are spoken for, a waiting list will be established. Prices, meanwhile, won’t be published until mid-January.

Toyota GB wasn’t able to confirm the UK allocation when contacted, although with demand for sports cars similarly strong in this country, it seems likely that around the same number of A90s will be sent here.

It’s not really a premiere if we’ve all known about it for the past few months

Yes! I’ve been to four NAIAS shows in the past (saw the Furai in 2008) and this will no doubt be one to go to now! One of the years I was most annoyed about missing featured the FT-1 reveal, so I hope I don’t miss this… Imagine in a few years if Mazda has the RX-vision in production, Honda has the NSX, Nissan has the GTR and Toyota has the Supra all over again!

Also, here’s an RX-9 production render I found. And wow.

So your telling me I’m not gonna get to walk into a Toyota dealership with some fancy clothes and get to test drive a Supra for awhile?

Ikr, you can test drive most of these cars but you’ll probably have to put a deposit up front, that seems to be the common stipulation of new performance cars.
