Honda has revealed facelifted versions of the Civic saloon and coupe while also introducing a new Sport trim

With the tenth-generation Civic having emerged nearly three years ago, it’s time for a little nip and tuck. So what’s new?

Changes are mostly found at the front, where we have a fresh bumper with a piano black fascia in the upper part and a reshaped lower section with new chrome side pod accents and a full-width splitter. The headlights are new too, available as either halogen or LED units.

Touring models now have 18-inch wheels as standard, and there’s a new ‘Sport’ trim that sits between LX and EX. Go for a Civic Sport, and you’ll get more piano black trim at the front and fancy side pod accents. The saloon/sedan version receives more sporty-ish bits, with a rear spoiler, a “splitter-style rear lower bumper” and a chrome exhaust “finisher” modelled on the one used by the Si. The finishing touch? That’d be the 18-inch 10-spoke ‘Berlina Black’ alloy wheels.

Like the LX, Sport-trimmed models are fitted with a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated inline-four, with other derivatives using a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit. The Civic hatchback meanwhile hasn’t been tweaked - it came along later than the saloon, so isn’t due for a refresh just yet.

What do you think of the changes to the saloon and coupe?

Civic comes with 2 engine. A k20 NA and 1.5 turbo. Other sites state that the coupe and sedan trim will only have NA engine.

Have updated. It’s a weird one as the 2.0-litre doesn’t exist in the UK - we have a 1.0-litre inline-three, the 1.5 and a diesel over here. We’re also only just getting the saloon, but confusingly, not the one you see here…

Why does the rear of the coupe remind me so much of the CRZ? 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Yes! They have fixed the front and made it less ugly! Now they just have to fix the rear… The side view… The interior… Oh, and that ridiculously ugly Type R thingy. (Hate incoming in 3, 2, 1…)

Interested to see what they do with the hatch once it’s facelift time. I didn’t mind it at first but the more I look at it… just too many angles and creases!

Not hating, but you have Golf, Focus and many other cars. We have nothing. I prefer Civics styling to any other hatchback. If there were no Civic, I’d literally have nowhere to go to get my dose of sharp lines.

Tbh the taillights have grown on me, and since the front is fixed I’m actually pretty happy with the current state of the car
