Caterham has revealed its most hardcore road-going model to date - the
bonkers fast 620R.
Powering the new model (which replaces the already blisteringly fast R500) is a supercharged 2.0-litre Ford Duratec engine, which bellows out a massive
311bhp and
219lb/ft torque.
Stats? 0-60mph flashes by in
2.79 seconds and it's good for a top speed of
155mph. The 620R's weight is still undisclosed, but we're guessing the car's name -
620 - refers to its huge power-to-weight ratio; quite right that Caterham says this
'isn't a model recommended for those inexperienced in driving Caterhams', then...

Features of the 620R include an 'air-flow optimised nose cone' and a race-developed cooling package, plus high-performance dampers, lightweight 13-inch alloys and track-focused Avon ZZR tyres.
Inside the cabin, the R gets carbonfibre interior panels and dash plus carbonfibre race seats to keep weight as low as possible.

Prices for the 620R kick off at £49,995, with first deliveries expected in September. A slightly
softer S model will also make the 620 line-up this year.
Until then, the
Caterham 7 Supersport we tested recently will do plenty, thanks!
