So, how much HP do you need to do simple drifting?
Me and my friend had an argument about drifting with low-powered cars. My friend said that you need at least 160bhp to drift. I told him that you can drift with a car that has under 100bhp, but he said that it’s impossible. I mean you can just clutch-kick and go.. please tell this to my friend.

It’s less about hp and more about torque vs weight
And of course grip.
Exactly a transmission with good gear ratios makes the difference
I’ve kinda drifted my 2002 and I only have like 105hp but my tires are super old so I didn’t do a big one
What kind of drifting? Holding a long corner or short drifts?
Short ones.
140hp and 1300kg i’m doing fine
I had 1300kg and 100hp
Doing nothing :/
well, I started with a 318ti E36 which had 143bhp. But you can drift A Sierra with 120bhp, an E30 318i with around 113bhp. So I guess yeah you can clutchkick and hope to power it out, but the best of drifting low powered rwd comes in the wet or on snow. Less than 140 on dry I would not recommend. Your engine won`t last long as you bounce of the revlimiter all the time.
Just bought an e30 318is, completely stock. Dyno’d at 100whp, estimated 130 at the flywheel when new
You van drift cars with under 100bhp but not realy long but with a barried differential and torque it might just go for a longer one
You can probably drift with a single horsepower if you try hard enough.
Look up “Spanish Horse Riding”on YouTube.
Well you can’t drift with that vw shame I mean sharan you have :9
Shame? Faster than your bike

140 bhp twenty years ago, probably getting closer to 100, and it’s a 1800 kg people carrier. It got sideways if you tried hard enough
It really depends on torque and weight (my 293 hp car can’t drift)
