Diesel may be quickly falling out of fashion, but there’s no denying that VW Group’s V6 TDI engine is a good fit for pretty much every car it’s slotted into. And the idea of an Audi A6 Avant with the 281bhp is particularly alluring: there’s a car which ticks a lot of boxes.

With that in mind, our ears pricked up when we heard that ABT Sportsline had taken this fast, oil-burning wagon and given it some tweaks. Dubbed the ‘Speed-Style A6’, the worked-over Audi has just been revealed ahead of a Geneva Motor Show debut next month.

Via to the fitting ABT Engine Control, the six-cylinder diesel engine has been given reasonable rather than dramatic gains. Power is now up to 325bhp, while the torque has grown from 457 to 494lb ft.

The German company has also added a new front splitter, a gloss black rear diffuser, and 89mm matte black tailpipes. The finishing touch is a set of huge 21-inch ABT FR wheels.

Prefer something powered by unleaded? ABT can add all of the above visual tweaks to the turbocharged V6 petrol A6, while also increasing the power from 335bhp to 420bhp and the torque from 369 to 406lb ft, which will come as welcome news to anyone who doesn’t want to wait for the incoming S6…

The E400d makes 340bhp and 700NM, the race chip will take that to 380bhp and 780NM. I would take the Audi personally as this looks better than the E wagon.

The m550d makes 400hp stock… 500+ with a remap. That’s the real diesel monster.

The SQ7 engine in the A6 would be cool.

Bit pish for a tuning company, previous gen A6/A7/SQ5 etc. had a 3 litre V6 diesel with 320 PS from standard (316 ish hrsprs)

Save money and buy an earlier one of them and map it :)
