The hidden gem of the Gol GTi

While Europe was amazed with the Golf GTI, a hatchback with enough power to put bigger sports cars in to shame and still able to take the girlfriend to a shopping run. Brazil never truly got the Golf GTI mostly because of import laws. VW from Brazil instead of building the thing locally, they decided to start on a new project based on the existent VW Gol Mk1 debuting in 1989.

Granting it a 2.0L AP 2000i, with electronic injection (the first car to be sold in South America with electronic injection) made 120hp at 5600 rpm, in a car that weight only 1020 kg, making 0 to 100 km/h under 10 seconds, top speed 185 km/h. Also had some optionals that only higher grade cars had, like air conditioning, power stearing, electric windows and electric rear-view mirrors, the list goes on. Had from stock, fog lights, and Recaro seats.

Externaly it could come in Pearl white, Pearl red, Sport red, Black, and had a spoiler in the back, even if the car it self was in a FWD layout

What you guys think? It would have place in the European and American roads? Can it be classified as a hidden classic?
