Do spark plug wire insulator lengths matter?

i believe its the end that connects to the spark plug , i have a 96 dodge dakota. my dad left it at a shop since he didnt have a place to store it while it was down and well they swapped the cables with random cables so i dnt know what length the truck had prior to leaving it there. can the length effect ignition timing? or anything ?

No, length does not effect timing . Position effects timing.

As long as they reach they’ll do the trick, the problem becomes if they’re in the incorrect position or sometimes they can be messy under the hood. Make sure to keep the wires away from any significant source of heat that might melt them. You can make diy wire looms to help keep everything tidy. If you check out finnegans garage on YouTube he has a handy video that shows how to make neat zip tie wire looms

i still got the factory wire looms. As of now i want to blame my valve seals ( it looks like there’s oil on my plugs but not too much so it looks like fuel , too much fuel). But here’s where i got stuck, i decided to change the thermostat since my coolant temp sensor wasn’t working and i thought it was overheating ( luckily it wasn’t). After finishing that job my engine light didn’t come back on( i had multiple misfire codes and now no light?) Now im baffled , why is that spark plug like so (only after 100 miles) ? iwill check compression in a bit and later ima buy a new set of plugs and see what happens or clean the current set if possible. If i can get your thoughts on the plugs condition and how a thermostat swap removed the check engine light that’d be great.
