Driven: Range Rover Evoque TD4 Dynamic

So one thing I promised myself with 2018 is that I would get hold of more motors to review and I couldn’t have started it in a better way then getting hold of a Range Rover Evoque. Quite possibly one of the most popular compact SUV on the market even with competition from the BMW X1 and Audi Q3. Having recently gone through a facelift it couldn’t be a better time to drive the Evoque and find out what it is like.

The Range Rover Evoque has always looked fantastic and the model I had looked even more stunning with its Firenze Red metallic paint set against some Satin Matt Black alloys. The Dynamic comes with lower front and rear bumpers which in my opinion loses the off road looks but gives the Evoque an overall sense of luxury.

Although being a Range Rover you will be surprised at how amazing the handling is on the Evoque. I had the Evoque for over a week and was surprised at its sprightly handling similar to that of a hot hatch. It managed to tackle some of the most winding country roads of Kent along with some soft off road areas with ease. However, I also have no doubt that the Evoque TD4 could handle some more demanding off road areas thanks to it’s permanent 4×4 system, only if I had the guts. The 2.0 Litre diesel was spritely enough with good acceleration managing 0-62mph in under 10 seconds.

I can honestly say being inside the Evoque you are in no doubt that you’re in a Range Rover thanks to the high quality materials, leather bucket style perforated seats (Dynamic and above) and 10 inch infotainment system. Despite being the smaller brother of the full on Range Rover the seating position is high along with plenty of space and great visibility. The only disadvantage I can see from the Evoque is the size of the boot or lack of it. However, that isn’t the point with the Evoque.

There is no doubt that this is one serious Range Rover. Despite being the baby of the range I really enjoyed getting my hands on this. The handling was amazing, performance was what you would expect and the quality is Range Rover throughout. The competition will struggle to give that sense of luxury and heart that the Range Rover Evoque offers.
