M40 is the worst bmw engine ever built….. not by design but by some decisions…. in later years the m43 id actually quitr good on the e34, sadly never in e30. Common problems waterpump, camshaft and timing belt on top of the normal maintanence work. M10 is basis for the old 80s f1 engine. It is really strong and you can stuff a turbo onto it and make decent power without killing the engine.

Haha not really there was a discussion about this and my opinion is that they are not safe in a crash, are quite nice to drive fast and young people do it. However my first car was an e32 750i….. so this applies there. But insurance for e30 will drain your pockets
I think fastlane blocker is right. E30s are not very safe, the fuel consumption is very bad and you have to put much time and money for repairing. But… its a really good car to learn to work on a car, its really easy to repair, it makes a ton of fun and it looks amaazing. Im 18 and my e30 is my first car and i dont regret annything, but an e30 was my dream forever, so i had to buy one😁. And actually my insurance here in germany is quite good.
Ah, in Indonesia, it’s really hard to get insurance for any vehicle from 90’s and older. And if I could get it, the premium is sky-high. So I’ll just take the bullet and not insure it 😂
