If you've ever watched the Goodwood Revival, you'll recognise this E-Type - 1961 Jaguar E-Type S1 "CUT 7"

Yep, the CUT 7 E-Type is for sale at Henderson Fellowes in London. Active in historic motorsport since 2000 and a regular visitor of the Goodwood Revival. It was returned to its period correct specification (as you see it in the pictures) in 2013 by its current owner. If you’ve heard of CUT 7, you’ve probably seen it at the Goodwood Revival, so how about I tell you about the car’s history.

CUT 7 was the first of 2 E-Type FHC Jaguars sold to Jaguar racing driver D. Protheroe. It finished 6th overall at the 1962 Goodwood TT and won the 1962 British Autosport National Championship, as well as winning at Mallory Park, Silverstone, Crystal Palace and Snetterton.

At some point, the car was re-registered 636 CJU and sold to a new owner. The registration was eventually put on 2 other E-Types, one of which crashed at Snetterton in 1963, until returning to this very E-Type; s/n CUT 7.

What do you think of this legendary E-Type? I think it’s a bit odd with its full plexiglass bootlid, but there’s no denying its history, story and legacy is amazing.

P.S: quite unfortunately for the poor fellow, the D stands for Dck. Dck Protheroe. I was already wondering why the CT editor was moaning about profanity.
