How to drop the shift linkage!?

Hey guys I’m changing out my rack and pinion (due to a leak) in my ej8 sedan. I’ve got the rack and pinion loose and ready to pull out, but I have to drop the shift linkage, how would I go about doing that? Much appreciated in advance.
