Why the Skyline R34 GTR is vastly overrated.
The Nissan Skyline R34 is considered to be one of the best Japanese sports cars of the 1990’s in my opinion however, this car is overrated in many ways. First of all the car’s look is unappealing to the general populous, many people see this car as an ugly car from the 90’s. The technology in the car is incredibly outdated, and outdone by the cars of today’s era. Even when it was new, it was still inferior to other cars of the era, whereas many American cars had more power, offered more fun, and were overall better cars. But also within Japan, the skyline was less powerful and slower than the superior Supra. I have driven one of these cars on my recent trip to Japan; I was blown away by how slow the get up and go was and how poorly it handled. I will forever believe that the skyline R34 was the most overrated car of the 90’s, as my experiences with the vehicle were poor. I’m sorry, but I truly cannot understand the obsessive following that this car has.
Sincerely,
Your Boy, the Big Boi

ok
Everybody gets that, already. It’s about as new as the car itself. It’s also just as annoying as the car’s fanboys.
Are you sure it was the gtr version
R32 > R34 tbh
The R34 GT-R got rave reviews from UK car mags back when it was new, the only downside was the £50k price for official imports. They also made in the region of 320-330ps stock, while Japanese-market Supras made 280ps stock with export models at 320ps.
When you talk about American cars at the time (1999), the Mustang Cobra and Camaro SS were making similar power while the Corvette was only doing 345hp.
I think you’re taking the car considerably out of its historical context - it’s like saying a 265hp E-Type is slow when you can get 380hp in an XE.
The twin turbo variant of the Supra made about 320hp whereas the skyline made 276.
