My #onlyonecar - Range Rover 30th Anniversary Edition

Range Rover 30th Anniversary Edition

The Range Rover P38 is my dream car and so it would make sense for me to choose it. Another reason why I chose a Range Rover is because if you only have one car then you’d want it do do anything and everything and I chose the 30th Anniversary Edition because it’s the right balance between Luxury, Price and availability. If you are going to spend a lot of time in one car then you would want it to be luxurious. It is also very practical and the every Range Rover has practicality in spades. The only improvement that it needs is everything to do with performance.

Cornering - ACE System

For those who don’t know, The ACE system (Active Cornering Enhancement) is the on road stability control system developed by Land Rover for the Discovery 2. An accelerometer detects the Body roll and then makes an equal and opposite force that the body creates and acts upon the anti roll bars to keep the body roll to a minimum. The only issue this is that it was never designed the the P38s chassis.

5.0 Litre Rover V8 from a TVR Griffith or Chimaera

The engine used in early 90s TVRs were based on Rover V8, so it should be a very easy engine swap. the 5 litre would take the P38s power from 212-225BHP to 320 BHP which is about 33% increase over the stock 4.6 litre.

For some added power I would fit a supercharger to the TVR engine which would mean a few other small modification to the engine. This should bring the power up to a round 400 BHP.

A few other things

Land Rover Mondial Wheels

BF Goodrich All-Terrain Tires

Very nice set of modifications, the ace would be a must pushing that power, and brakes would definitely need doing👍

Hate to say it but the P38 is the worse Range Rover ever built, having personally driven one I have to wonder why you would want such a “poor” car like that. The handling feels terrible and they’re riddled with issues with the most noticeable one being the common airbag suspension fault. Classic > P38. Plus side tho is they’re only worth $2500/1250 quid over here lol

What there’re worth is irrelevant. There are lots of cars cars that are “Only worth $2500/1250” like the Mazda MX-5 and the Ford Focus ST170 which are cars that a lot of people like. I know how bad they are but I like them because there’re cheap and because I like the history of the development of it.
