Mazda 6 2.3 massive sudden oil leak

On my way home from work I heared a sound in the engine like i drove over a stone and it hit something in the engine bay or like something made out of metall fell of the engine. On the last 800 meters home I lost two liters of oil, most of it after I parked the car.
The oil was dripping out of the car somewhere above the oil can at the front of the engine.
For now it looks like the sealing of the ford oil cooler since it is the highest oily point, but I could not recreate the leak. When i start the engine not a single drop of oil is to be seen, even at higher rpm.

Is this sealing likely to be the only cause? I really hope after replacing it, it stays dry.
Did anybody else have something similar?
