5 Interesting Things We Learned This Week

Another glorious working week at CT has ended, and we've seen some interesting stories and surprising reactions. Here are five things that we've learned...

News of Fiat’s 1.4-litre turbocharged MX-5 brother dropped this week, and as expected, the new car’s looks were a massive talking point. In a poll of over 8000 CTzens, 36 per cent of you said that the Fiat 124 Spider was hot as hell, while 50 per cent agreed that it looked OK. This week, we gave you 12 reasons why you should stop wasting your time being spammed by auto-play videos and pointless updates on Facebook. Reasons to make the move over to CT included AMAs that we host with real celebs, regular competitions we run, and the ability to follow car-related communities that are close to your heart. This week’s most viewed thing on the website was ‘12 Times When Mechanics Were Shocked By What Just Rolled Into The Shop: Part 2’. This tells us that seeing the stupidity and negligence of other motorists makes us feel better about the fact that we’d never let our cars get to the sorry state that some of these are in. It also shows us that you’re highly unlikely to keep a box of old skin in your centre console…

As sad as it is to say, it seems that the world is predetermined to take great pleasure in seeing young lads crashing their (actually, probably their parents’) expensive BMWs. Luckily in this case, our brave hero walked away from this massive smash without a scratch, which speaks volumes about the safety of modern cars.

This week, much of the CT team (plus a couple of guests) were driving five generations of BMW M3s for a forthcoming video. As expected, the BMW E30 M3 (this one actually being a super limited edition Roberto Ravaglia car) was a massive hit with everyone here. Sadly, however, it was a disappointing car to drive, which goes to show that on some occasions, do not meet your hero…
