2018 Flying Eagle Drift 2

I just got these so they are still stock. I really like them, great carbon skates for the money.

Pros

  • Price. Mine were $250 used, new they are $450, my HLC sells for $600-700 new.
  • Frame. Regarded to be one of the best rockerable frames, super thicc to handle jumps. SEBA rockerable frames are known for stripping screws, and lower end to mid range frames can bend (I bent an FR 4D frame from a relatively small jump).
  • Overall Performance. Very similar to my HLC’s for potentially half the price. Just as responsive to skate in. Absorbs jumps well for a carbon skate. Haven’t yet tested ride quality on rough roads.
-Buckles. A minor pro here. Top buckle is much easier to feel and perceive it actually locking in place. 45 degree microrachet has less of a tendency to strip than SEBA microrachets, but can still happen.

Cons

  • Wheels. For 88a, they don’t last long, though they roll well and do nice slides. FE needs to make longer lasting wheels.
  • Comfort. SEBAs are designed very well for comfort, and the HLC is much more comfortable. I am still breaking these in, but I am noticing pressure points. It is pretty narrow at the toe, but my feet are wide. Compared to HLC and FR1 they are much more uncomfortable, but they are comparable to my Highs, but those have a removable liner so I could make those more comfortable.

Right now they are stock, but I am eager to break these in and try this boot with some other setups.
