Swirl flaps M47N2

Hello everyone.
For those who have the last M47 engine technical update - the M47N2 - 2.0d manufactured in all e9X cars between 2005-2007. Have you removed/blended your swirl flaps in the intake manifold? Have you noticed any lack of power, torque of Higher fuel consumption? For the peace of mind, I want to blend the flaps, but also, I dont want to break “the engine ecosystem”. Looking for an advice. Thanks.

N47 is not really that prone to getting swirl flaps into the engine lol

Just remove them. There are pretty much no negative things related to removing them.

You should remove them, unless you want the risk of getting them inside the engine if/when they break.

We had them removed by avon tuning, and they were on the verge of snapping. Economy was down, and there was excessive carbon buildup. She was on 155,000 miles.

Also BMW say that they had fixed the swirl flap problems, but they only made them without screws on LCI models as they loosened over time. There are and still may be made from the cheap plastics, even in the n47d20c.
