Controversial topic

For my English class, I have to select a controversial topic by next Tuesday and then write an essay that argues a position. I was thinking of selecting a controversial topic that have to do with cars. Does anyone have any suggestions? A few potential topics came to mind and I wanted to get other people’s opinions as well.

Potential topics

• Manual vs automatic/dual clutch

• Internal Combustion Engine vs Electric Motors

• Natural aspiration vs forced induction

• Ferrari odometer rollback scandal (may be a little hard to write about but nonetheless is still on this list)

• Ferrari preventing David Lee from getting an allocation for the LaFerrari Aperta (not sure if this is controversial or not. Nonetheless this topic is still in this list

• Lamborghini Huracan Performante’s Nurburgring lap record (somewhat controversial mainly because people believed that the discrepancies in the video overlay showing the gauge cluster and according to Bridge and Gantry who did an in depth analysis of the lap time, they found out that the footage was sped up in some instances. Also the Performante is only 36 seconds quicker than the standard Huracan which doesnt make sense considering that it was able to beat the 918’s lap record by 5 seconds)

• The increased beef between Mercedes Benz and McLaren now that the Mercedes Benz Project One is released and how it is supposed to be a big screw you to McLaren. (Somewhat controversial, considering that both the Mercedes Benz’s Project One and McLaren’s current hypercar, the P1 both use the same name, the P1 Project One specs are almost identical, the front end of the Project One looks like a F1, the Project One has a roof scoop which was featured on the F1, P1 and 675LT, and the Project One has butterfly doors just like all of McLaren cars)
