Craigslist Find of the Day: 1600lbs for $1600
Racing is often portrayed as being prohibitively expensive, especially for those of us who weren’t born with a trust fund in our name. Even if you throw aside six figure super cars, buying and race prepping something like a BMW can be a hard task when you don’t have at least $20,000 or more in disposable income. This money often doesn’t even cover making the car faster, it merely covers the essentials such as a roll cage, racing seats, multiple sets of tires. Then you get into the fun stuff such as engine upgrades and lightened parts and you can easily spend $30,000 on a car you won’t even drive on a day to day basis. Which brings me to my Craigslist find of the day, a 1990 Ford Festiva.
This Festiva, however, is no ordinary Festiva. This one has been modified heavily to be a track ready race car. It features a partial rollcage, Sparco racing seat, lightened lexan windows and an optimized intake and exhaust to up the power from 63hp to 75hp. The doors have also been gutted to reduce weight and the suspension has been redesigned using adjustable dampers and coilover sleeves as well as front camber plates, allowing you to fine tune the suspension to suit your style of driving.
It’s a very small car and it’s often been said you can fit one in the bed of a pickup truck, so you might not even have to buy a trailer for it. It’s available here in Austin, TX for $1600. If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to get into racing, this is it.

solid to start on 👍 👍
And after a while and some savings put a different engine in it with about 150 hp. More than enough in this thing
