Yesterday Honda revealed that a pre-production version of its new Civic Type R had lapped the Nurburgring in a staggering 7m 50s. In the face of the usual front-wheel drive hate, we decided to take a look at the rear-wheel drive cars it’s faster than. Sure, these cars are all older, but they’re all still legitimate performance cars. Proof that rear-wheel drive isn’t the be all and end all of performance motoring.
