The place for your 1971-2006 Toyota Celica questions and discussions! For owners, prospective owners and Celica fans.
I got a question about a toyota celica 1986. It now has a 1.6 engine in it. But i want another a 2.0 or higher and can it be with a turbo?
Hey guys ! A few weeks ago, I posted that I had some oil issues with my 2000 Celica with 1ZZ-FE engin. I have some news that may interest some peoples here. I don’t know if it’s the same thing out of France, but here is the Toyota’s answer : I have to replace the complete engin bloc and it ins’t financed by Toyota.
Because of the piston rings. The oil ring has dirty oil stuck in and it can’t work properly, so engin burns oil, carbon deposits comes and all that stuff.
Replacing short block (I think that’s called like that) for a new one. New pistons rings have been modificated to drain oil properly, but they replace all pieces around to prevent new leaks and be sure that the problem is solved.
Who is concerned ?
And that’s the interesting part! I can’t give you here precisely chassis numbers impacted by this issue (I have chassis numbers but I prefer give it inbox if someone what to know), but I think that the problem is solved after year 2002.
What about now ?
I don’t have money to replace my engin, and I think it isn’t so bad. Last week, I putted some cleaner in my oil (Wynn’s) and oil consumption is dropped (250 km without any oil added, before, I added 0,5L every 500km). I think my engin can’t live like that if I clean it every oil change and it’s cheaper than an engin change. I don’t exclude to change my engin but not now.
Hope that helped ! Sorry for english mistakes !
