To tell you the truth. I enjoy my Ford Taurus and it is not the Sho. Plenty of room and much comfort for me and the family. Its really is a nice car and to each his own. I was not a ford fan but I tell you this it is turning heads. It has a great ride and pick up as well. God bless and If well support our country alot can happen for all of us..

It is funny to see the Audi owners and Ford owners butting heads, it reminds me of my house. I owned a 2004 Audi a6 2.7 litre v6 with twin turbos and all the options on it until a few years ago. It cost $106,000CDN, and it was a very fun car to drive. Now I own an A6 with a 4.2 litre v8 and (sadly) it isn't much faster then the 2.7 twin turbo. Now this is where it get's interesting, we own a 2010 black on black Taurus SHO (it's the wifes (seriously)). And for about HALF the price, she's got most of the options I do and some that I don't (like cooled seats, I don't have cooled seats in the audi). There are some nice options in the SHO, I like the Microsoft Sync and the Sony 12 speaker stereo really pounds quite nice. But the difference between the two is the build quality, mainly the german attention to detail. The Taurus seems too busy, the materials used seem cheep the ride quality is not the same and the overall styling is not that great in comparison. They are a completely different class of car, the wife and EVERYONE else agrees.
That said, the SHO is not awfull looking and is actually decent. Underneath the hood the Taurus is beefy, real beefy, it hauls. Turbo's really add the torque it puts a smile on your face, it's agile it sticks to the road, it's quite impressive for a car of that size. This comparison by ford is to show that their V6 is more power full than the competitions naturally aspired V8. And that's as far as Ford gets in comparisons, Audi has been building cars with turbos in them for decades, and the audi's where more powerfull than their american naturally aspired competition, this is nothing new to them. My 2.7 A6 hauled serious A$$, I can only imagine the erection I would get if Audi had a 3.5 litre twin turbo in my A6. EcoBoost is a great marketing campaign used by Ford to lure more customers. All the Audi fans here know that it is not a fair comparison, but ford is playing smart and knows that Audi sales have been on the rise for a while and that there is more and more of them on the roads. Those LED DRL's, that big horse collar grill, everything about the car. It's no secret that Audi has always been a leader when it came to design and styling as well as aerodynamics, technology etc.. etc.. and it's no wonder that people envy Audi's. It is a way for Ford to secure a position in the industry that shows that they are putting more technology in their vehicles (although turbos are not "new" technology but whatever). Ford should have gone after the GM and Chrysler 50K market, for example the SHO is as fast as a 5.7 litre HEMI. The HEMI puts out 340 horsepower from a 5.7 litre the Audi puts out 340+ horsepower from a 4.2 (that's 1.5L less). The better thing for Ford to have done is compare the Chrysler 300C to the SHO and try and get that market share, because us Audi drivers know why we spent the extra cash on the Audi, and will most likely NOT go out and buy a Ford. I tease the wife all the time that she should have payed a little more and got an S4 or something, at least a GM and not a Ford. But she's happy and Ford has come a long way with quality.

Okay all you Audi Fans.....how about you take your Ford is bullshit and its not an apples to apples test attitude and move your ass to Germany. If you are American born and bred, your sorry ass should be proud of an American car company and it's success. Im sick of all the "know it alls" talking shit about American Cars. Remember who butters your bread.

Why would you compare an S4 with Taurus? The size is not even the same. The comparison is among same size cars. How about compare curb weight matched cars of same class size. (They wanted to show that the Eco Boost V6 has more than a similar size car with a V8 ...PERIOD)

... I understand that they are trying to do the comparison saying the Ford Ecoboost V6 can beat a V8...

but come on!

Nobody would compare these two cars in reality so why on earth do it here?

I am sorry but this comparison makes no sense...

It should be, like most people have said,

2010 Taurus SHO vs 2010 Audi S4... just makes more sense to me.

Would be nice to see a drag race and quarter mile, and slalom with those two... actually, I think they should do it!

2010 Ford Taurus SHO: Starting at $37,995.
2010 Audi S4: Starting at $45,900

$7000 more expensive to start.

2010 Audi S4:
keep basic "Premium Plus" 3.0TFSI and 6-spd manual, add carbon fiber dash trim, basic navigation, 19" wheels, sport package rear diff, B&O sound system - $52,575 MSRP.

2010 Ford Taurus SHO:
comes with 6-spd trans, comes with fancy dash trim, comes with in-dash navigation, comes with "premium" Sony sound system, comes with AWD, add a power moonroof - $41,485

Still $4000 less than the entry level S4. Almost $11,000 less than the lightly upgraded S4.

SHO will cost less to register, since it's priced less.
SHO will cost less to insure, since it's less expensive to replace or repair.

SHO share a lot of design elements with the European Ford's Kinetic Design. It looks fairly similar to the Mondeo, which was widely popular over there. I don't think that only Americans will buy this Ford unless they only sell it in America. The larger Ford sedans have long been very popular in Europe. Europe had the badass MkII Escorts and the Sierra Cosworth, with it's turbocharged mill is still very widely respected over there. Europeans have been enjoying the best Ford has to offer for decades. If they get this, they will buy it.

Then again, given the high price of fuel over there, maybe they'll just get the Fiesta. Would you like to debate which is better: Fiesta or A3? That would be a tough one for me, as I think the A3 TDI is a real Prius killer (and I think a lot of us gearheads can get behind that idea).

Why buy a 49k Taurus SHO when you can get a 2010 S4 for 52k that will rape the Taurus SHO in the ass (price in canadian dollars)? Or why not buy a G37x that will also kill the Taurus SHO for less money? Do you realize that only americans will buy that ford ? No one wants that car other than in the US.
