Sometimes prowess on the virtual track doesn’t always equate to similar results in real life. Ford played on this recently with a promotion as part of the 2010 Unleashed program. Gamers were pitted against each other on both real and Need for Speed Shift virtual track. What about a creator one of one of those games racing around a track though?

Perhaps the most anticipated game in coming in the pipeline right now though for the automotive genre is Gran Turismo 5, which is released next year.

A new video has been released showing Kazunori Yamauchi (creator and producer of Gran Turismo 5), lapping the Nurburgring. He raced in a Lexus IS-F equipped with a roll cage as part of a  four-hour endurance race. His team won in the SP8 (nearly stock vehicles) class, and at 10 minutes and 9 seconds, he took the fastest time around the track as well.
