VIDEO: Cadillac CTS-V Challenge
After much fanfare, the Cadillac CTS-V Challenge was completed last week. The coverage in the automotive media has been so intense, proving that the event did its job for Cadillac, but also making people a bit worn out hearing about it.
Cadillac recently released this video as a summary of the event. The final results were overwhelmingly in favor of the CTS-V, albeit when driven by GM’s professional drivers.
Mr. Lutz scored a great time but Michael Cooper, one of the private drivers invited, beat that score on the track. What the CTS-V Challenge did was generate a lot of buzz for Cadillac and prove that the car was capable of doing track time (and insanely quick times). As the other automakers proved, having a car with the ability to do that is a rarity.
The video below provides a lot of the information and small clips from the drivers about the event. The Jalopnik vs. GM “challenge” didn’t quite turn out like they had originally planned, to say the least.

You’re right. We’re all tired of hearing about Lutz’ publicity machine. We get it, the CTS-V’s fast. Please, no more articles about this “competition” (in quotes on purpose.)
I agree! But, we’ve got to cover it right? It is news after all.
I dunno. I feel like the whole CTS-V challenge has been beaten like a dead horse. But maybe it’s just because I hate Maximum Bob’s “take no prisoners” approach to everything?
and the whole thing was set up to favor the CTS-V’s. On a track with more curves and shorter straights, I bet the M3/RS4 would’ve done more damage to the CTS-V. And that’s coming from me, a bonafide CTS-V fanboy.
As to whether or not it’s news – I don’t know. I feel like the topic’s been exhausted at this point. I’ll promise not to promote the Lutz propoganda generator if you do!
Yeah, I do see what you’re saying – coverage has been intense. Certainly did what it was supposed to for Cadillac! Even people not in tune with the auto industry like us have heard about it. Haha, sounds like a good deal to me!
Michael Cooper is my hero! The M3 sedan is every bit the car the CTS-V is.
